Would You Let a Millennial Mentor You?

Would You Let a Millennial Mentor You?

That is the bold strategy I’m proposing for organizations facing the challenges of a multi-generational workforce in my paper and presentation “Let a Millennial Mentor You: The benefits of mutual mentoring” for the University of New Mexico’s Mentoring Institute Conference. For the third year in a row, I will be presenting at the UNM’s Mentoring Institute Conference in October. This year the conference theme is “Mentoring and Coaching at Work” and since my presentations always focus on Millennials, I thought it was the perfect time to turn the tables on the Millennials dialogue. There is way too much talk about the perceived deficits of your generation, and not enough talk about the benefits and advantages your generation brings to an organization. Have you ever thought about what you might be able to offer an older colleague as their mentor? We most certainly know that your generation has a technological advantage and many of you already do quite a bit of tech mentoring with your family and colleagues. But you have so much more to offer… For my paper and presentation, I would love to know what values, attitudes, skills, or knowledge you have that you believe would benefit your older or more seasoned colleagues, co-workers, and/or staff as their mentor. Please take a couple of minutes to tell me in the survey below, I am going to share the results in my paper and presentation and with all of you directly in my September e-newsletter and blog.
