Got Goals?

Got Goals?

I did it! I’ve achieved my goals for 2016. Every year I set a few personal and professional goals, not resolutions. To me resolutions are things you want to stop doing or start doing. A goal is something you want to achieve. So for 2015,  my goal was pretty simple, I wanted to grow my business. I wanted to focus on two areas;  offering something of value to you and raising my profile. And my goals had to be SMART: Specific: Know exactly want I to achieve. Measurable: Have a way to measure my achievement. Achievable: Know that it is within the realm of possibility, I want to shoot for the stars, but not set myself up to fail. Relevant: Know it will have an impact on my present needs. Time bound: Give myself an appropriate amount of time to achieve it, in this case, a year. So my two SMART goals for 2015 have been to: Speak at a TED event, and Create an online course that will equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to feel confident and competent in you role as a leader. Two weeks ago, I was selected to speak at the TEDxABQ Salon Entrepreneur 2.0 an event to inspire people to take risks and take action to make a positive difference in their lives. My presentation is titled, It is Not a Straight Line. It features the many curves, bends and detours I’ve faced in my entrepreneurial journey, sharing how everyone can convert the unexpected and unwanted into opportunities to lead an exceptional life. If you’re local buy a ticket today, they’re only $20 or $10 for students. Go to www.tedxabq.com. And if you’re not local, it will be recorded and you can be sure I will share it, shamelessly. I promise. The NEW online course Real Leadership: Empathize, Empower and Make an Impact launched September 14th. It took me three times longer to develop than I had planned, but I think you will love it. You can get the deets at www.leadershipin5.com So as I bathe in the glory of accomplishing my goals, it occurs to me that autumn is upon us and it is time to start thinking about new goals for 2016. I think the new year is going to bring on a lot of change and that excites me. So if you are thinking about your goals for 2016, it may be helpful to ask yourself the following questions to develop your SMART goals: Is there anything I wanted to achieve this year that I did not achieve? If so, why? What excites and scares me? Is it realistic? How will help me and/or my business move forward? What will I need to get it done? There is a much more in depth exercise with goal setting in Real Leadership, Module #5: Impact the Present and Future of Your Organization , including a goal setting template for your leadership development. I’m going to host a FREE webinar to introduce you to the 5 Steps to Real Leadership, to make sure you get the invitation fill in your contact below and I’ll make sure you get in invitation, space will be limited. Now go start working on your goals for 2016!     [gravityform id=”13″ title=”true” description=”true”]
